I bought this dress a year ago and it's been hiding in my closet until now. I never wore it because I thought the distinctive checkered pattern reminded me too much of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! But after seeing Christopher Kane's Spring 2010 collection, it completely changed my perspective on gingham and inspired me to give this dress a try!

And I know what you're saying - I've also had it happenign to me a few times - I would purchase something and never really figure out the best way to wear it, then a year or so later it just dawns on me, usually due to some outer inspiration as well!

I think it's refreshing and really inventive that you did a contrasting print with the striped blazer. The blazer in and of itself is pretty interesting with the vest-shaped hem. Most jacket hems are as boring as a Kansas horizon.
