DIY: Wrap-turned-Scarf

This is the most easiest DIY ever! A very fun and simple DIY wrap-turned-scarf project that takes less than a minute to create and requires only one piece of fabric!

materials: scissors, measuring tape, and a rectangular piece of fabric (approximately 60 inches long).

Step 1: Fold the fabric in half from left to right.

Step 2: With the measuring tape, measure six inches down and six inches over from the folded side. Then cut an eight inch vertical slit.

Step 3: Open up the fabric and there should be two openings for your arms to go through.

That's it! Easy breezy right? This is a very versatile piece with many different styling options. It also works great if you want to pack light for your travels. Please, please credit and link back to Behind the Seams when using this tutorial. Thanks!!

I just adore those kind of drapery pieces! And I agree it's so easy to do one yourself, especially for those who are not too much into or good at sewing lol It gets trickier if you want to add sleeves to such vest, that's why I never attempted the sleeved version lol

this was perfect, and it took less than five minutes! you're a genius.

Megan said...

But if you fat (like me) you could probably try this but upsize everything a little. Use 1.5 yrds and instead of 6" down and over measure your back and remove about 10% then divide in half to know how far from the folded edge to cut.

It takes all sizes!

Anonymous said...

This is AWESOME! I am wondering if any savey crafters outt here could tell me how to figure this same pattern out for a little girl? This is here favortie style right now, pairing this type of vest over any ole t-shirt, I would love to make her a few... She's my niece, so she doesn't live with me but is wearing a size 8/9 (little girl). Any and all advise would be appreciated!!!

AWESOME !!! my daughter is so getting one of these for Christmas. THANKS

Amanda said...

What's the best fabric to use? I want to make one tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

I tried this. I bought the 60 inches of fabric like you suggested. You didn't list the width and lenght and from mine, I call tell you that you need both. The width of the fabric was too long so we are going to have to cut some off. Have you had this problem? If so, what would you say is the avearage length you need. Also, for a heavier set person, the arm hole will probably be bigger. By the way, my mom used one of her old jersy gowns and made one. It was the perfect length and width. Too cute!!!

Anonymous said...

Just tried this, way to long in the back. Goes to the floor will have to cut some off. Don't know how wide the material should be. Please help.
Thank you

Anonymous said...

I made one and it turned out great. Soooo easy.
